01 What I help with

Nine things women bring to this room.

You do not need a diagnosis, or a tidy explanation of what is wrong. You need somewhere to start. These are the areas I work with most.

  • 01

    Anxiety, anger and low mood

Worry, panic, intrusive thoughts, OCD, and the long shadow of trauma or PTSD.

  • 02

    Relationships and sexual problems

Mismatched desire, old patterns, and finding the words to ask for what you want.

  • 03

    Peri/menopause symptoms

Anxiety, rage, flushes and lost confidence in the middle of a big hormonal change.

  • 04

    Insomnia

The 3am loop, and the worry about not sleeping that keeps the whole thing going.

  • 05

    Low self-esteem and confidence

The quiet belief that you are not enough, and how to set it down and leave it there.

  • 06

    Unwanted habits

Sugar, wine, skin-picking, doomscrolling before bed — the loop you would like to break.

  • 07

    Weight management and healthy eating

Comfort eating, and a kinder, steadier relationship with food over the long term.

  • 08

    Chronic pain, fibromyalgia and IBS

Living with pain, and the anxiety that travels alongside it.

  • 09

    ADHD and other neurodiversity

Overwhelm, rejection sensitivity and masking — often after a diagnosis later in life.

I also work with children from the age of 8, with a parent present throughout.

02 How it works

Goals first. Not the past.

I practise solution-focused hypnotherapy, which puts psychotherapy and hypnosis in the same hour. We will not spend your sessions analysing why you have the problem. We will spend them working out where you want to get to, and what gets you there.

  • You talk, firstAbout 40 minutes of conversation: what has been happening, what you want instead, and the steps in between.
  • Then the tranceThe last 20 minutes are spent deeply relaxed. You can hear me, you stay aware, and you can stop at any time.
  • Nothing hiddenTrance is an everyday state — the feeling of being absorbed in a film or a daydream. There is no loss of control.

03 About Sandra

Sandra Wilson with her dog in the garden
Sandra Wilson, BSc (Hons) HPD DSFH

I know how this feels from the inside.

I was an anxious child. I worried about everything, and I had my first panic attack at five years old — lying in bed, trying to work out why I existed and what lay beyond the stars.

I grew into an anxious teenager, then into a high-achieving adult whose anxiety almost nobody noticed. That is what high functioning looks like. Underneath it I carried a firm conviction that I was not good enough, and that no achievement would ever change that.

A few years ago the panic attacks came back, with insomnia alongside them, around the time of the perimenopause. In desperation I tried hypnotherapy. What I learned was that no matter where this comes from, it is possible to make changes.

So I trained, and this is now my work. I do not have a magic wand. I do have a real understanding of how it feels from the inside, and I will be completely committed to helping you.

05 Questions

The four things everybody asks.

Answered in my own words, the way I would answer them on the telephone.

What does hypnosis actually feel like?

A hypnotic trance is an everyday state. It is the feeling of being so absorbed in a film or a book that the room around you fades. In a session your attention rests on my voice and on your body relaxing, and you remain in control at all times.

Can I be hypnotised?

Some people are more responsive than others, but even the most cynical, resistant person can be. Coming with an open mind matters more than believing in it. Most people find the process deeply relaxing and pleasant.

Does hypnotherapy work?

People report very different experiences, and some effects are more subtle at first. There is no switch to flick: it is a two-way process, and your involvement is part of it. Many clients say it gives them a new way of seeing themselves.

Do you work with children?

Yes, from the age of 8, and never without a parent present. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and I am qualified to work with children. I am happy to have an informal chat about your child’s needs first.
